US Army moves TITAN from prototypes to production Palantir Receives $127 Million in Latest TITAN Contract Anduril received $65 million for TITAN equipment and integration This week, the US Army moved its TITAN (Tactical Intelligence Targeting Access Node) program from prototype status to full-scale production. Palantir Technologies and Anduril Industries together received a $192 million award covering the next phase of production. The Army first selected Palantir back in 2024 as the lead contractor to develop the Army’s next-generation targeting system. Palantir received $127 million of the total grant amount and will oversee the production of TITAN along with several partners supporting this work. These partners include L3 Harris Technologies, Sierra Nevada Corporation, Strategic Technology Consulting and World Wide Technology, each of which contributes to the program. Anduril received the remaining $65 million and will produce the reinforced vehicle units needed for field deployment. The Anduril part also covers the integration of power systems and thermal management components, so TITAN operates reliably in harsh operating conditions. The program includes two different configurations created for different vehicle platforms and the requirements of different military units. The advanced version will be mounted on tactical trucks and will be able to receive data directly from orbital sensor networks. The simpler basic version is designed for a joint light tactical vehicle, giving smaller units similar targeting capabilities. Under the current contract, contractors must deliver four upgraded units and four basic units within eighteen months. The production ramp is being built on the basis of the existing fleet of prototypes These newly ordered units will complement the nine prototype systems the Army already operates and is using in ongoing exercises. Army officials said they plan to award additional TITAN production contracts sometime in fiscal year 2027. The move from prototype to production marks a major milestone for a program designed to modernize the way ground forces gather target information. TITAN is the centerpiece of the Army’s broader effort to overhaul aging ground systems across its battlefields. By linking space-based sensors to vehicle-mounted terminals, the system aims to reduce the time between target detection and engagement. Whether this will result in a significantly faster aim cycle in real-world combat conditions remains to be tested at scale. The involvement of five separate companies, along with Palantir and Anduril, suggests the Army is spreading technical risk across multiple vendors. This approach could either increase program sustainability or complicate coordination as production accelerates in anticipation of subsequent 2027 orders. For now, the contract signals steady progress rather than a dramatic leap forward in broader modernization efforts.
