Tenby Sailing Club hosted the National Phantom Class Championships with 51 boats competing in 10 races over four days. It was a very successful four days. “A big thank you to the team of TSC volunteers who made it all possible.” Advertising Rob Richardson of Ovington Boats took first place and Harry Briddon of Ogston Sailing Club took second place. John Rickard of Hooe Point Sailing Club took third place. Llandegfedd SC’s Ben Dancer, who also swims for Tenby, finished fourth. Tenby’s John Nuttall finished 39th after his mast broke in the second race, limiting him to just three races. Saundersfoot’s only competitor, James Hayden, finished 30th. The third day of the event saw several general black flag recalls as the fleet battled the tidal current across the bay. Advertising Sailors Tenby and Saundersfoot also recently competed in the National Osprey Championships in Mounts Bay. Dave Griffiths and Maurice Clark in the Osprey 1365 Carpé Diem finished 14th out of 45 entries. The final cruise race of 2026 is scheduled for Friday, September 11 at 6:00 p.m., with the annual start scheduled for Monday, September 28. Junior sailing training will conclude on Wednesday 9 September when Royal Yachting Association qualification certificates will be awarded.
