Ben and Casey Affleck’s parents died this year (Photo: Getty Images) Casey Affleck has revealed that his and Ben Affleck’s father died this year after losing their mom. The 51-year-old actor revealed the news during an appearance at the Venice Film Festival on Tuesday, where he was promoting his new film production company. Casey was joined by his girlfriend Kaylee Cowan and his sons Atticus and Indiana, as well as other actors from the film. Ben, 54, was also present to support Casey, who said his gothic vampire film was dedicated to both of his parents, who died last year. “It’s dedicated to my parents because I lost both my mom and dad this year and they were very important to me,” he said. “I really wanted to show them this film, but I didn’t have time. Chris and Timothy divorced when Ben and Casey were young. Timothy worked as an actor and aspiring playwright before he began to battle alcoholism and took a series of jobs. He later became a counselor at an alcohol rehab center in California after he got sober in 1990. Ben previously spoke about his father’s recovery, calling his sobriety “the biggest lesson and legacy of my life.” He told People in 2020: “Part of being an adult is realizing that your parents are just people. They’re not perfect. They just tried their best.” The obituary said Chris had six months to live in December 2025 and hoped Casey’s son Atticus would graduate from high school. She attended his graduation ceremony with his family on May 31. However, two days later she died. According to the death certificate, she died of cardiopulmonary arrest while visiting her son’s home. Casey’s new film company marks his third film as director and is competing at this year’s Venice Film Festival.
