Antigua and Barbuda Inspires Canada with Art, Culture and Tourism
Antigua and Barbuda showcased its vibrant culture and thriving arts scene at Canada’s prestigious Polo for Heart fundraiser, giving visitors an authentic taste of the twin-island destination. Through art, cuisine, music, and tourism experiences, the event highlighted why Antigua and Barbuda continues to attract travelers from Canada and around the world.
Toronto, Canada — Antigua and Barbuda’s vibrant culture, world-class artistry, and unforgettable tourism experiences took center stage in Canada this past weekend as the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) showcased the twin-island destination at the prestigious Polo for Heart fundraiser in Toronto.
The event offered Canadian audiences more than a glimpse of a tropical paradise—it provided an authentic cultural journey that highlighted why Antigua and Barbuda continues to captivate travelers from Canada and around the world.
Five distinguished artists from Antigua and Barbuda, members of the QBG (Quay and Barracks Art Galleries) Collective, captivated guests with an inspiring exhibition of contemporary Caribbean art. The featured artists—Glenroy Aaron, Heather Doram, Kelly Hull, Stephen Murphy, and Dylan Phillips—presented a stunning collection celebrating the islands’ breathtaking landscapes, rich heritage, vibrant communities, and everyday life.
Their work demonstrated that Antigua and Barbuda’s appeal extends far beyond its internationally acclaimed 365 beaches—one for every day of the year. It is a destination where creativity flourishes, traditions are preserved, and visitors are welcomed into a living culture that leaves lasting memories.
“What we intended to do with this event was to highlight the depths of talent in these two beautiful islands,” said Tameka Wharton, Director of Tourism for Canada. “Our artists are among Antigua and Barbuda’s greatest representatives, and by bringing their work to spaces like Polo for Heart, we give international audiences an opportunity to connect with the cultural tapestry that makes our destination so unique.”

As the title sponsor of the event, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority transformed the venue into “Polo in Paradise,” an immersive destination experience that transported guests to the heart of the Caribbean. Visitors enjoyed signature Antigua and Barbuda cocktails, authentic island cuisine—including the national dish, fungee and pepperpot, as well as saltfish and fried dumplings—live music by local performers, dazzling Carnival costumes, and vibrant destination displays celebrating the islands’ rich traditions.
Adding to the excitement, a luxurious stay for two at the renowned Curtain Bluff Resort was donated to the event’s silent auction, giving one lucky winner the opportunity to experience Antigua and Barbuda’s legendary hospitality firsthand.
The event also served as an international platform to promote the upcoming Antigua and Barbuda Art Week, taking place November 11–18, now in its fourth year. The highly anticipated celebration will feature more than a dozen exhibitions and experiences showcasing visual arts, fashion, music, open galleries, public art installations, and creative collaborations across both islands. The week continues to strengthen Antigua and Barbuda’s growing reputation as one of the Caribbean’s emerging cultural and creative destinations.
For Canadian travelers seeking more than a beach vacation, Antigua and Barbuda offer an unforgettable blend of natural beauty, authentic experiences, world-class sailing, historic landmarks, eco-adventures, luxury resorts, wellness escapes, culinary delights, and a welcoming people whose warmth leaves a lasting impression.
By sharing its art, cuisine, music, and traditions at one of Canada’s most respected charitable events, Antigua and Barbuda reinforced its position as a destination where culture and tourism go hand in hand—inviting visitors from Canada and across the globe to discover not only beautiful islands, but a vibrant way of life.
Polo for Heart, Canada’s largest and longest-running charity polo event, has raised significant funds for hospitals and healthcare initiatives over the years while becoming one of the country’s premier summer traditions. Antigua and Barbuda’s participation reflected not only its commitment to promoting tourism but also to supporting meaningful international community partnerships through culture, creativity, and generosity.
