Brock Bowers will miss several weeks after surgery

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers is the best tight end in fantasy football. Unfortunately for fantasy football owners, it looks like he’s going to start the season on the bench.

Bowers underwent a medical procedure Wednesday and is expected to miss some time while he recovers, according to the release.

Bowers misses time

Bowers is expected to miss several games, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Raiders All-Pro tight end Brock Bowers underwent meniscus removal surgery Tuesday in Dallas under Dr. Daniel Cooper and is now expected to miss “a game or two,” league sources said. [Ian Rapoport] and I. Bowers “got a little hurt in camp and the injury was diagnosed last week and surgery was scheduled,” Schefter wrote in a post on X.

Obviously, this is a major blow for the Raiders, as Bowers is arguably the leading receiver in the NFL. Schefter reports that after Bowers’ absence, Michael Mayer is next in line.

“Raiders TE Michael Mayer was already set to be a part of the team’s offense – and now his role is expected to grow without Brock Bowers,” Schefter wrote.

“Less than ideal”

Needless to say, the news caused a strong reaction throughout the league.

“This is the worst news I’ve seen on Twitter since the likelihood of human extinction by 2030 was >10%,” wrote The Athletic’s Jacob Sanderson.

“Well, it’s far from ideal…” wrote NFL insider Phil Yates of ESPN.

“If you cut my meniscus, I won’t get out of bed for two months,” wrote sportscaster Brandon Perna.

“What a way to start the NFL season. Prospective fantasy football TE1 just had SURGERY. My God. So many people picked this man in the 2nd round. Now an unexpected injury/procedure. It’s a cruel world,” wrote PPR Fantasy Tips.

We’ll see how long Bowers stays on the sidelines.
