Glasgow Airport Wi-Fi rules people need to know before safety

Passengers at Glasgow Airport were also informed about NATS air traffic control services.

People traveling to Glasgow Airport can use Wi-Fi for free, but if you rely on it, especially for work before a business trip, it’s worth checking with security ahead of time that you can register to access it and that your device is compatible with the service.

Glasgow Airport confirms: “At Glasgow Airport you can access free wireless internet via your laptop or handheld device.” Free Wi-Fi at the airport is provided in partnership with Purple/North WiFi.

To connect, you will need a device that supports Wi-Fi 802.11b. Most portable devices already have this feature built-in, and many other devices can be upgraded to include a wireless network card.

You can use airport Wi-Fi for free for one hour, but the rules require you to register first. This free option has limited speeds, so if you need a faster connection, the upgraded service may be better.

A one-day premium pass costs £2 and provides speeds of up to 10MB. It also allows you to download and stream.

To connect to WIFI, simply follow these steps:

  • Turn on your wireless device
  • When prompted to select a Wi-Fi network, select ‘Glasgow_Airport_WiFi’.
  • Select “Duration Required”
  • Users visiting the site for the first time may be asked to register certain information. This will only happen once, after which your individual device will be recognized.
  • You’ll now be connected to the free Wi-Fi at Glasgow Airport.

Glasgow Airport NATS update

On the Glasgow Airport website, updated on 9 September, officials issued a statement regarding NATS air traffic control services.

The latest update reads: “Following a technical issue affecting NATS air traffic control yesterday, operations at our airports are being restored.

“Flights continued to operate yesterday and today, but we expect continued disruption due to aircraft and crew movements. We advise passengers to check with their airline for the latest flight information and only travel if they have a confirmed flight departing today.”

“We apologize for the inconvenience this NAT-related technical issue has caused and will continue to support our passengers.”
