Lassi Kefalonia – Gorgeous Greek Resort Village Near Argostoli
Looking for a quiet, laid-back beach resort village in Greece? Well, Lassi Kefalonia is the sure-shot answer.
After spending a few days in the capital city of Argostoli, we decided to also try living in the nearby beach resort town of Lassi.
My friend and I visited Greece in June – first half, and it was already getting hot, but the influx of tourists had not yet begun – thank god for that. So, we were able to find quiet spots and pristine beaches – just to ourselves.
It was quite a surprise as prior to my trip, I had only ever heard of the more popular islands of Mykonos, Santorini, Crete, Corfu, and the likes. Little did I know that my trip to Greece would only cover the most obscure spots and I will be skipping ALL of the hot spots.
Traveling within Greece from one island to another is no joke. It is hard to hop on ferries/ buses, tugging your big suitcases on cobbled streets and stairs. Also, within each town, if you don’t rent a car, walking all day in the summer sun for hours to get from one place to the other can be a bummer, especially when there is no Uber/ ride shares.
So we had to cut our losses and really just pick 2-3 islands to visit.
Eventually, we ended up going just to Lefkada for a week, covering my 3-day boat trip and a few days in Lefkada town (also visiting the nearby town of Vasiliki), and then hopping to Kefalonia (Argostoli and Lassi). This was my summer Greece itinerary this year. Nothing to write home about, but an excellent choice for a quiet beach holiday on the Mediterranean shores.
What to Expect when you Visit Lassi in Kefalonia?
Our first stop in Kefalonia was Argostoli, but apart from the sea turtles and walks around town, we were not too excited about spending time in the capital.
So the first night itself, we embarked on a 40 min walk to the nearby beach town of Lassi, and even though it was still a tad quiet, we decided to move there for our last few days in Greece.
All the gorgeous beaches were in Lassi, and we are both beach bums to the core.
All we wanted to do was sip beers and read books on the beach during the day, and gulp sundowners in quaint pubs in the evenings – Lassi was perfect for our vacation goals.
As soon as we moved to Lassi, we discovered hidden beaches, sundowner spots, excellent food, and amazing hospitality. This truly made our holiday to Greece special.
We noticed Lassi was flocked with senior citizens and retirees, and by the end of my trip, I could understand why. It really is the best place to unwind, slow travel, and soak in the sea breeze at an easy pace. Exactly what the doctor ordered.
Things to do in Lassi, Kefalonia
Even though Lassi is a quaint beach resort destination and not the most popular place to visit in Greece by far, still there’s no dearth of things to do in Lassi.
You can easily spend a few days/ weeks just sunning on the pristine beaches, enjoying scrumptious Greek cuisine, visiting low-key pubs and taking boat trips around Kefalonia.
We only had a few days at hand so this is what we ended up trying –
Kalamia Beach
This one beach literally made me move to Lassi from Argostoli.
On our first day in Argostoli, since there are no beaches in the capital, we walked to Kalamia beach in Lassi. The beach was so stunning and we had such a wonderful beach day that we immediately went back and booked our next few nights in Lassi itself. So that we can skip the 40 min walk each way in the sweltering sun.
Our hotel in Lassi (OSKARS studios) was then just 5 min from Kalamia, which was just ideal for us beach babies.
What I loved the most about Kalamia was that it was way quieter than the more popular Gradakia beach, had a lovely beach shack, perfect waters for swimming, and plenty of opportunities to snorkel.

The beach looks pretty cool too, with caves and coves on one side and a U-shaped strip leading into the mountains.
My friend and I would spend our days reading books, drinking beer, playing card games, swimming (A LOT) and sun bathing.
My friend happened to find the perfect way to read AND be in the waters at the same time – mermaid style.
Find your own Hidden Beach Stretch
Surely we were psyched to bits to be staying so close to Kalamia beach but our hotel staff advised us to try totally private and hidden beach spots. This was just apt for us, as we both love hidden beaches and isolation.
Just a 5 min walk from our OSKARS on the left is a rainbow shaped dark green colored gate which takes you straight to a private beach for two. Literally, it can comfortably fit ONLY two people.

So the first day we were disappointed as someone had beat us to this gorgeous beach spot. So the next day we went early to be assured of the spot.

It was just perfect to soak in the waters (not swim as there were rocks in the waters) and read books. Our day was made.
Grab Sundowners at El Pecado beach bar
In the evening, a walk to Makris Gialos beach made us come across the coolest beach bar in Lassi – El Pecado.
In no time, we made friends with the owner and bartender and got free shots and fun talks.
This instantly became our favorite spot to watch the sunset, sip LIIT’s and chat with locals – it was the perfect “evening place” in Lassi.
Stay at OSKARS Studios & Apartments
With fully equipped 1 BHK’s, stunning swimming pool, excellent food, ideal workspace, scrumptious cocktails, and a knockout staff – OSKARS gets 10 on 10 from me.
The pool was perfect for a “post-beach dip” and to sip their flavorful cocktails.
I will blindly recommend them to anyone visiting Lassi.
The family that owns it also works there, and they were the friendliest and most helpful staff. When we had flight issues on our departure day and could not leave on the day we were supposed to, they even ensured we got accommodation for the extra night, even though they were totally full.

They went above and beyond to try to contact airlines and airport staff to help us out. We experienced Greek hospitality at its best here.

Spend a few days at Summer Garden Αpartments & Studios
Even if you choose OSKARS as your main stay, I would recommend spending a night or two at the nearby Summer Garden apartments.
They also have fully equipped rooms with double or twin beds and a fantastic view.

The best part and why I am recommending them here is because the owner was so kind to us. He gave us a night in peak summer season at NO COST just because we had issues with our flight tickets and could not travel on our departure date.
This one random act of kindness really lifted our spirts and rebuilt our faith in humanity. We were so humbled by his kindness and we cannot thank him enough.
On that day, almost everything in Lassi was sold out and this apartment had one single room left – which they could have charged through the roof to us – but gave it to us for free.
If you want to stay in a quiet, clean spot, Summer garden is a great place to be at. Book here for the lowest rates now.
Visit a Greek Tavern
Looking for the best Kefalonia restaurants? Well head to one of the Greek taverns lining the streets of Lassi.
We happened to visit two excellent Greek taverns in Lassi – Nefeli and Kamaroules Stamatelatos tavern.
Nefali is on the flip side of the road, which means there is no ocean view. However, the excellent food makes up for the lack of view. It is right on the road and is a popular spot among tourists.

Kamaroules Stamatelatos, on the other hand, has a great ocean view as it is right by the beach.

We had delicious fish soups, fresh fish and beers in these Greek taverns, and just writing this is making me want to go back for a bite.
Makris Gialos Beach
Makris Gialos beach was usually our evening spot because of the El Pecado bar. The beach is great for long walks as it is a vast stretch of white sand and offers great sunset views.
Shake a Leg at So Simple
So Simple was literally the only bar we found in Lassi with a DJ.
So Simple is flocked with retirees and hence the music is 60’s 70’s pop, classics, and dance.
We used to have a cocktail and burn some calories at So Simple every night before heading back to our hotel. It was kind of right in the way and always made us smile, looking at the cute senior couples embracing and dancing away happily.
Eat at Sto Psito
Sto Psito restaurant in Lassi has the best view in town, hand’s down.

If you are looking for extraordinary views, a chill atmosphere, great food and don’t mind paying a little extra, Sto Psito is your spot.
Visit Gradakia Beach
Our first visit to Gradakia was a random night walk where we were trying to find “a” beach amidst thick shrubs and no paths. Basically we were looking for a quiet spot to chill for a bit before our long walk back to Argostoli (where we were staying for first two nights).
We just sat on a rock and enjoyed the peace at midnight here.
However, our next visit wasn’t so peaceful at all. We went during the day aka peak beach hours and Gradakia was totally packed. We could not even find space to keep our bags and sarongs.
It was so busy that we just took a quick dip and rushed back to our favorite trusted spot – Kalamia.
Enjoy Mesmerizing Sunsets
Greece specialises in sunsets, so you really cannot go wrong here. When the sky is on fire, right above the waters, it is always an excellent view – plus with mountains dotting the horizon, it ads to the scenery of Lassi.
Buy Greek Souvenirs
Greek souvenirs are well, everywhere. Found some cute shops selling magnets, bookmarks, handcrafted items and so much more. No death of excellent gifts to take back home from Lassi.
Play with Cats
Cats are EVERYWHERE in Greece. So playing with cats and feeding them will surely be a part of your Greek itinerary if you like these furry felines. We had a great time taking photos of cats from across Greece and playing with them all over.
Gawk at the Eclectic Vintage Decor of Butler’s House
Even though we didnt eat at the Butler’s house, I was always impressed by their antique mis matched and totally eclectic decor. It is worth a visit or atleast a photo.
Where to stay in Lassi, Kefalonia?
Well, as you know, OSKARS and Summer Garden are my recommendations for the best places to stay in Lassi.
I would say whichever of these two is available, you can book blindly as the owners and staff are polite, kind, smiling, respectful and helpful.
In a new country, this is what matters the most to me.
Pick OSKARS if you want a more upscale vibe with a restaurant, pool and cocktails at your doorstep.

Pick Summer Garden for a quiet apartment close to the ocean. You will have to go out for food and drinks but the supermarket is a short 300 m walk away.
So go ahead and book now.
How to Reach Lassi, Kefalonia?
We took a ferry from Vasiliki to Fiskardo, which was a comfortable hour-long ride. After reaching the harbour town of Fiskardo, we realized there were no buses or Uber’s to take us to Argostoli/ Lassi and we had to book a private minibus with a few other people we met on the ferry.
Pro Tip – We booked our ride through this dude, and the rates were competitive (if we prorate it per person and compare to ride shares on small islands of Greece). You can reach out for small cars or minibuses across Kefalonia here – JACKOS Taxi Fiscardo – +30 694 562 5760
This was the best and cheapest way to reach Lassi and other parts of Kefalonia from Fiskardo port.
So convinced you need to visit Lassi Greece? Go now and enjoy some sun, sand and a dose of Vitamin SEA.
