KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — A Malaysia Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur to Jeddah was diverted to Chennai, India, on Monday due to a suspected problem with one of its engines, according to Indian media reports. As reported by the national news agency Bernama, citing a message Times of IndiaFlight MH156, carrying 186 passengers, made an emergency landing at Chennai airport before the aircraft was moved to a parking area and the passengers were provided with accommodation at the airport. “There was a technical problem with engine number two. “The airline and related technical teams are conducting further assessment of the aircraft and the issue,” an airport official told news agency PTI. The Hindu, quoting Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials, reported that the flight took off from Kuala Lumpur at 3:30 pm before the pilot suspected an engine problem and sought permission to land in Chennai.
