Mysterious seven-mile ‘sunken city’ spotted near Bermuda Triangle

A mysterious pattern discovered in seafloor data has sparked speculation that a “sunken city” may be lurking near the Bermuda Triangle.

Self-proclaimed UFO researcher Scott S. Waring has identified figures near Cuba and Haiti, claiming they may be the remains of a city built by ancient people.

Waring made the purported discovery using an online map from the Seabed 2030 project, a global initiative aimed at mapping the entire ocean floor by the end of the decade.

Seafloor data shows a series of faint, roughly parallel and intersecting lines crossing the seafloor west of the island.

He estimates that the proposed site extends seven or eight miles in one direction and about three miles in the other.

“This new map is extraordinary,” Waring said in a YouTube video highlighting the area. “In this place there is an ancient sunken city.

“There are a lot of geometric shapes here that indicate that there is something here that has been done intelligently,” he added.

However, neither archaeologists nor marine scientists have examined the site or confirmed that these patterns represent physical, man-made structures.

Self-proclaimed UFO researcher Scott S. Waring has identified the figures near Cuba and Haiti (to the left of the island), claiming that they may be the remains of a city built by ancient people.

Waring said the scale and regularity of the shapes convinced him they were unlikely to have formed naturally.

He wondered whether the supposed builders were human or aliens from another world.

“So, are these ancient aliens or ancient humans?” Waring asked on his website UFO Sightings Daily. “That’s a big question.”

He ultimately favored the lost human civilization, arguing, “I would probably go with the ancient people because the geometric design seems more primitive and less futuristic to me.”

Waring suggested that these shapes may represent the remains of a settlement reminiscent of Atlantis, a legendary civilization said to have disappeared under the sea.

“It could be a long-lost city, like Atlantis or something, built on the coral reef of an island territory,” he said.

He suggested that a powerful earthquake could have destabilized the island, causing the reef and everything built on it to collapse into the ocean.

“An earthquake could have shaken the island so badly that the coral could have simply collapsed on its own and the whole island could have sunk,” Waring explained.

“The Sunken City” is described as being located near the Bermuda Triangle, a vaguely defined region of the Atlantic associated with decades of stories of missing ships, missing planes and inexplicable compass behavior.

However, he admitted that this scenario was only his own theory and did not provide any geological or archaeological evidence that an island once existed at the site.

“This is just my hypothesis, my guess,” he said.

Waring placed the anomaly in waters near Cuba and Haiti, near the Turks and Caicos Islands and the Bahamas.

He also described it as being located near the Bermuda Triangle, a vaguely defined region of the Atlantic associated with decades of stories of missing ships, missing planes and inexplicable compass behavior.

Waring said suspected magnetic anomalies in the area could cause ships to become disorientated or even lose their engines.

However, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says there is no evidence that mysterious disappearances are occurring more frequently in the Bermuda Triangle than in any other heavily visited ocean area.

The researcher noted that when using Google Earth, patterns in the area were not visible.

The agency notes that severe storms, rapid weather changes caused by the Gulf Stream, shallow waters and human error may explain many of the incidents associated with the suspected phenomenon.

Waring also questioned why the same patterns weren’t visible on Google Earth, arguing that the platform had hidden the area under a layer of smoothed blue images.

“Google Earth doesn’t show anything there at all,” he said. “They use an anti-aliasing program, paint it blue, and you don’t see anything.”

There is no evidence that Google intentionally hid anything in this location.

Maps of the ocean floor are compiled from information of varying quality and resolution, including direct sonar measurements, satellite observations and computer estimates used to fill the vast gaps between surveys.

Combining these sources can result in straight lines, grids, and other apparently geometric patterns that do not necessarily represent genuine features on the seafloor.

Confirming a lost settlement will require detailed sonar surveys, underwater photographs and physical evidence such as processed stone, pottery, tools or other artifacts.

Until such an investigation is carried out, the “city” will remain an interpretation of patterns in cartographic data, rather than a verified archaeological discovery.
