Following the departure of offensive coordinator Clint Kubiak to take over as head coach of the Raiders, the Seahawks hired Brian Fleury as their head coach this offseason. Fleury spent the last seven seasons with the 49ers, most recently serving as the running game coordinator and tight ends coach. Helping smooth the transition, Fleury comes from the same coaching tree as Kubiak, having played in a West Coast offense and learned from Kyle Shanahan.

“I’m looking forward to it” Fleury said before today’s game. “I’ve had more fun in training over the last two days than I have in any of the last seven years, so I’m excited to continue this journey and take the field for the first time on Wednesday.”

His new players praised the work he had done.

“He’s done an incredible job and it’s great to see.” Cooper Cupp said. “This is not an easy task, it cannot be missed. The offensive coordinator came to us, he didn’t take anyone with him. He had to communicate his vision to the coaches so they could go out and convey it to the players. This is a difficult task.”

My favorite description of offensive lineman Gray Seibel: Fleury. “Looks like man.com. He’s a good dude, an incredible coach. I like his run-first mentality and we will like it.”
