The black iPhone Pro is back

Apple saw the reason: a black model has returned to the iPhone Pro line.

Last year, Apple made bold color choices for the iPhone 17 Pro, offering vibrant orange, shiny silver, and deep blue. Don’t get me wrong, they looked beautiful. But there was no black (or dark grey) color for the first time since the launch of the iPhone Pro line, which Apple first introduced in September 2019 with the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max.

This worries me because I always buy a black phone. I learned my lesson with the iPhone 6: I bought it in gold to mix things up and regretted it. I don’t want something flashy – I want a phone that blends into the background and looks decent no matter what case I put it in. After the iPhone 6, my next phone was an iPhone 7 in a superb matte black (I wasn’t brave enough to bear the possible scratches on the black model) and since then I’ve only received black or gray phones.

My black titanium iPhone 16 Pro with black Torras case (with mostly black home screen) still works very well, thank you very much, and I’m not looking for a new phone. But when I visit my local Apple Store every year in mid-September to check out all the new iPhones, I won’t be rushing to see the iPhone 18 Pro in burgundy, blue or silver. I will look for a model in black.

Just look at this thing! This is cool!
