Trump Mobile’s gold T1 phone now costs $749. That’s a $250 price increase from $499, making the T1 more expensive than the iPhone 17e. For the first time the price increase was reported Edgein which they also noted that the provider did not announce this, but simply quietly updated its website.

While Trump Mobile hasn’t explained why the T1 is now so much more expensive, tech companies have been raising prices on their products across the board lately due to skyrocketing RAM costs. No one is immune from RAMageddon, which people call the memory chip shortage problem that is currently plaguing the electronics industry due to the massive development of artificial intelligence. In fact, Apple just raised the prices of older iPhones by $100, nearly three months after it raised the prices of the iPad (up to $200), MacBook (up to $500) and Mac Studio computer (up to $1,300).

Additionally, a price increase for the T1 seems to be expected. Trump Mobile executives previously said the $499 price was just an introductory price and that future customers could pay $999 for it. Note that iFixit’s teardown revealed that the phone is not made in the US, as Trump Mobile originally claimed, and is essentially an updated version of the HTC phone.
