US government restricts travel to Nogales

TUCSON, AZ (13 News) – The U.S. government has issued a security alert restricting travel to Nogales, Mexico.

Travel was limited to “essential movements only during daylight hours.”

The U.S. Travel Agency has classified Sonora as a level three “travel review” area.

Travelers are advised to:

• Please use extreme caution and be aware of your surroundings.
• In the event of an accident, seek shelter.
• Tell friends and family about your safety in the event of an accident.
• Follow the instructions of Mexican law enforcement authorities.
• Check your local media for updates.
