The decision to allow Manchester United’s goal against Ipswich after Harry Maguire’s apparent handball was upheld by the Premier League’s Key Match Incidents (KMI) panel, although one panel member believed the handball was deliberate. The ball appeared to come off Maguire’s hand as he controlled it just outside the penalty area during the match on 30 August. He then fired a shot which went wide of the goal before being saved by Jacob Greaves in United’s 5–2 win. The KMI Commission is an independent panel made up of three former players or coaches, one Premier League representative and one Pro Ref representative. The commission’s findings on key incidents from each game week are being published for the first time this season.
