Reasons to Visit Agiofili Beach on Lefkada Island Greece

If you are on the cute Ionian island of Lefkada in Greece, a visit to the stunning Agiofili beach is an absolute MUST add to your Greek itinerary.

Lefkada was the starting point for my 3-day boat party (Seaquence) where I was part of the crew as a DJ.

Having had this opportunity, I decided to explore Lefkada a little and extend my stay on the island after our boat trip concluded.

I was only expecting some down time as I realized Lefkada did not have much of a nightlife scene. After spending a few days exploring Lefkada town and waiting for my friend’s arrival, I decided it was time to hop islands.

My friend and I zeroed in on Kefalonia for the rest of our days in Greece; however, our ferry was from Vasiliki.

Vasiliki is around an hour’s bus ride away from Lefkada town. This inspired us to just spend a few days in Vasiliki as we are slow travelers to the core and want to just experience new places and beaches – at ease!

This turned out to be a great decision as we preferred Vasiliki over Lefkada town.

On our very first day, we decided to embark on a 45 min walk to Agiofili beach.

What to Expect at Agiofili Beach

First off, the walk from town to Agiofili is no piece of cake. The long winding uphill climb in the summer heat really got to me. I was sweating profusely by the time we reached and a dip was literally a life saver.

This encouraged me to simply hitch a ride on the way way (Which was super easy) even though my friend preferred to walk.

There are basic amenities like parking, sunbed rentals and a small temporary snack bar (which closes quite early too). So don’t expect a fancy beach with all the facilities or restaurants.

The beach itself was like love at first sight, and I enjoyed my day out at Agiofili a lot.

Reasons to add Agiofili beach to your Greek Itinerary

Agiofili is absolutely spectacular. The only other beach similar to this which I have seen before (though not as clear waters) was Atuh in Nusa Penida.

As you climb down the stairs, you will gawk in wonder at the blue-green waters waiting to envelop you in their cool embrace.

I  was so stunned by how pretty it was that I  forgot all about the heat and tiredness I felt from the walk in the sun.

Just looking at Agiofili lifted my spirits, and I  sprinted down the stairs to take a dip in the welcoming waters.

Another big plus for me was that the waters were so swimmable. Yes, it’s a pebble beach, but you “can” walk without shoes if you want to. It’s not so hard on the feet and sometimes can act like a mini massage.

We could also grab water and beers from the snack bar till late afternoon but around 5-6 pm when we tried to get another one, we realized that it was closed.

The other option is to then climb all the way back up the stairs to the snack bar and get what you would like.

We had a wonderful day just swimming, sipping beers, reading books, taking photos and chilling and chatting – which is our usual modus operandi.

Agiofili beach in Vasiliki really made our day and we decided to extend our stay in Vasiliki to enjoy a few more offbeat charms.
