Dig out your old iPod and put on the “Songs to Cry To” playlist, I bring sad news. After more than 15 years of covering all things Apple, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that we will no longer be publishing new content on iMore.

I want to start by thanking you all for your support over the years and incarnations of the site. Whether you were an early adopter back in the days of PhoneDifferent, joined the iPhone Blog, or recently started reading to find out what the heck Apple Vision Pro is, it’s been our great honor to serve you a daily slice of apple pie.

Launched on the heels of the very first iPhone in 2008, a game-changing device not only for Apple but for the world, it is only fitting that we end the publication here in 2024 on the cusp of the launch of a revolutionary new technology from Apple in the form of Apple Intelligence. Just as Apple wasn’t the first company to create a smartphone, it’s also not the first to explore the power of artificial intelligence—but just as the iPhone took the world by storm, Apple Intelligence could change the way we interact with technology for years to come.

It’s a reminder that the world of technology never stands still: the term “artificial intelligence” was a science fiction reserve in the early days of the iPhone. The world of publishing is also constantly evolving, as are the forms of technology journalism that aim to shed light on the industry. iMore is leaving the scene at a key crossroads in online publishing, where the battle for readers’ time and attention is more demanding than ever before, and the aforementioned advances in artificial intelligence and search techniques further complicate the playing field. It’s been a joy to serve such a passionate audience over the years, but it’s time to pass the torch to new authors, new sites, and new formats.

I’d like to take a moment to thank all members of the iMore community, past and present, for their support and passion for what we’ve created over the years. Huge thanks to the previous leaders of iMore, Laurie Gil, Serenity Caldwell and Joe Keller, and, of course, the inimitable Rene Ritchie, who started this miracle many years ago. I hope we made you proud.

I’d like to give a special shout out to the final iMore team I’ve worked with most closely and have had the honor of leading over the last few years: Stephen, Tammy, John-Anthony, Daryl and James, and our many regular contributors – thank you for putting a smile on my face every day. I can’t wait to see what you do next.

iMore will remain online so readers can continue to access archived articles, and the forum will remain active until November 1st to serve our community.
