LIV Golf: Jon Rahm unaffected by ‘turbulence’ over future tour

Jon Rahm says he has become “pretty good at handling turbulence” as he remained tight-lipped about his future at LIV Golf ahead of this week’s Irish Open.

LIV’s prospects are uncertain following the withdrawal of financial support from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Although the 2026 LIV season ended earlier than planned following the cancellation of the team championship in Detroit, Rahm’s Legion XIII teammate Tyrrell Hatton said he expects the tour to continue next year.

“Yes and no, things haven’t changed much since my last interview in Indianapolis a few weeks ago,” Spaniard Ram told BBC Sport when asked if he knew what the future held for him.

“And there are a lot of things that can happen, right? There are a lot of things that could happen and this is one of those things that time will tell.”

Last month LIV confirmed it was “cutting operations” and some staff were made redundant in early September.

“To be fair to us people who joined LIV, I handle turbulence pretty well,” added two-time major winner Rahm.

Following the Irish Open at Doonbeg, Co Clare, Rahm will compete in next week’s BMW PGA Championship – the DP World Tour’s main event – at Wentworth.

Earlier this year, the DP World Tour reached a deal with several LIV players, including Rahm and Hatton, allowing them to compete at LIV without being sanctioned, but the agreement only covers this year.

While fellow major winners Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed – both of whom played in the Irish Open – decided to leave LIV and return to the PGA Tour, Rahm said, “We’ll see what happens” when asked about a return trip.
