It all depends on what plane you are flying on on vacation.

Budget airlines are cheap, efficient and incredibly popular. Ryanair, Europe’s largest airline by passenger numbers, carries around 200 million passengers a year on 3,800 flights a day. Rival WasyJet carried 93.4 million passengers in fiscal 2025, up 4.2% from the previous year.

Despite their popularity, they are not luxurious. Passengers tend to be attracted by cheap short-haul tickets rather than luxury travel.

“Want more legroom on a flight? Just sit on the right,” say consumer experts. “Take Ryanair for example. Almost all of their planes are Boeing 737s, so choosing seats D, E or F in rows 3 to 15 will give you more legroom.
